Graded assignments include PASTE LIST HERE   All assignments except the reading quizzes carry equal weight; the reading quizzes average into one grade.

The grading scale:

A    90 - 100

B    80 -  89

C    70 -  79

D    60 -  69

F    below 60

Grading Criteria for Essays:

Major errors (fragments, subject/verb disagreement, run-on sentences, and comma splices) count off ten points, and minor errors (other mechanical and grammatical errors) count off five points.

Essays will also be graded for content, a clear thesis, support of the thesis, readable prose, and adherence to written and verbal instructions concerning content, format, length, and other requirements.

Guidelines:

Absence Policy.  PASTE HERE  Three tardies constitute an absence, and any tardy in excess of fifteen minutes constitutes an absence.

Student Responsibility.  Instruction, assignments, and deadlines will be given in class.  Attend class regularly. when YOU miss class, ask another student and/or the instructor about any missed work.

Late Essays.  Any work turned in after the due date receives a five point reeduction for each day late.  only

Plagiarism.  Any student who plagiarizes will receive a zero on the assignment.
